Claire Hickaway
Barn Staff
Claire grew up in Calgary, Alberta, and animals have always been a part of her life. She rode competitively in the Hunter/Jumpers for 5 years before making the switch to the western world. This is when she began starting horses and putting miles on them. She was a technologist assistant at a small animal 24/hour emergency clinic, and decided to make the switch to equine medicine. In her spare time she enjoys riding her horses and spending time outdoors.

Kara Sleeman
Barn Staff
After growing up in Southern Ontario, Kara made the move to Alberta and brought her passion for horses along with her. She has spent much of her life around horses and volunteering at therapeutic riding facilities, where her interest in helping animals first began. She went on to graduate from the 2 year Equine Massage Therapy program at Trios College and is a registered member of the International Federation of Registered Equine Massage Therapists (FREMT). When she is not with horses, you’ll find her in the mountains or curled up on the couch with her dogs.

Keona Tan
Barn Staff
Keona has spent the last 13 years immersed in the equestrian world and competes in show jumping competitions whenever the opportunity arises. Her time in the saddle and working around the barn has sparked a strong passion for animal health and welfare, and she hopes to turn that passion into a career in veterinary medicine. When she’s not at the barn, you’ll usually find her hiking in the mountains, out with friends, or on a spontaneous road trip.

Kylie Duerksen
Barn Staff
Like many young girls, Kylie grew up loving everything horse & unicorn related. Despite not having any horses of her own, she was still able to spend time around them by trail riding with her dad and visiting her uncle’s farm. After moving to rural Alberta, Kylie found her way back to horses through volunteering at a rescue. It was while working as a stable hand & groom for a couple of local hunter/jumper stables that she discovered Moore Equine. It was then that her career path transitioned from human medicine to veterinary medicine. Kylie is currently pursuing her diploma in Veterinary Technology and has an interest in both reproduction and surgery. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, learning barrels & poles, spending time with her dogs, & loving on her rescue horses, Skye and Bourbon.

Ryley Glavine
Barn Staff
Ryley joined Moore Equine in 2022 as part of the barn staff team. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, majoring in Animal Science, with aspirations of attending veterinary school. When she isn’t working or studying, you can find her at the barn with her thoroughbred jumper, Wrigley, or out on an adventure with her corgi, Ripley.
