Dr. Gord Davis

Dr. Davis grew up on a mixed farm/ranch in SE Alberta within sight of both the Cypress Hills and the Sweetgrass Hills. His dream from Grade 7 was to become a veterinarian due in large part to the influence of a local practitioner, Dr Phil Bryant. He graduated from WCVM in the third class in 1971 and then went on to complete an internship at Washington State University in 1972. He was appointed an Instructor in the large animal clinic until 1974 at which time he became an associate in practice in Okotoks where he remained for 39 years.

He joined Moore Equine in 2013. Dr. Davis considers himself a generalist with interests in many aspects of equine practice including reproduction, lameness, ophthalmology, colic and dentistry. He has twice been the president of the Western Canadian Association of Equine Practitioners, has served on the board of the Equine Health Research Fund at WCVM, and has been a member and served as chairman of the Equine Committee of the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association. When not following his dream of being an Equine Practitioner, Dr. Davis may be found “playing cowboy” on a ranch somewhere in Western Canada.
